Chicago Riptide

Chicago Riptide is a team for gay men, women and their friends. Founded in February 2003 by Juan Ramirez and Chad Ozz, it was the first independently gay operated water polo team in Chicago! Along with the help and support of many local businesses and private donations, Chicago Riptide continues to grow and develop into a competitive water polo team. Chicago Riptide recently elected Executive Officers to assist in the growth of the team.

Everyone is welcomed to join us and participate in our practices, all we ask is to be a paid member of Chicago Riptide. We offer the first month FREE to participate fully with the team; allowing you to see the sport of water polo, participate in our practices and get a feel for the team. Chicago Riptide asks our members to pay bi-annual membership dues of $75 (a current membership to USA Water Polo is also required to competitively participate with us in any tournament). Your membership due help offset tournament fees, equipment costs, and other necessary items.

The team consists of both men and women, ranging in skills from “first timers” to life-long players and welcomes anyone who is interested in joining! To learn more about any fees, costs or any other questions, please email us. We are always looking for anyone to participate with us or just come to watch.
